A Guide to Happy Hour on Milwaukee’s East Side

It’s a concept that has been attributed to the United States Navy, amidst others. And it’s one the city of Milwaukee embraces wholeheartedly.

One of the first times the term made its way into the minds of the public was thanks to an article that ran in a news article printed in 1959. Then it was thought of as a scheduled time for entertainment.

The same could be said for today, with a dash of money-saving ways to unwind with friends after a long day at work. And around here downtown Milwaukee is the place to be.

Here are a few of our favorite happy hour spots in the downtown Milwauee area:

DiModa Pizza & Hotspot, 1758 N. Water Street

A literal stone’s throw away from River House Milwaukee, DiModa Pizza & Hotspot is known for its exceptional menus almost as much as it’s beloved brunches. But they also offer some pretty sumptious happy hour specials. They change regularly, but some beloved fan favorites include the sangria, fritter balls, and calamari.

The Diplomat, 815 E. Brady Street

Located on the west end of Brady Street, patrons of The Diplomat love it for its shared plates and quirky atmsophere. Highlights on the Happy Hour menu include half price wine and beer, $6 mules and an assortment of fan favorites like mussels, fried oysters and fries with garlic mayo

Hi Hat & Garage on Brady, 1701 N. Arlington Place

This Brady Street area institution is known for it’s creative craft cocktails and munchies. Rev up your weeknights at Hi Hat with select $5 martinis and app deals.

Casablanca, 728 E. Brady Street

Tradition runs deep at this historic Milwaukee food destination, where they perfect Fine Middle Eastern Cuisine on a daily basis. The happy hour specials feature half off wines, rail drinks, beer and apps.

Finks, 1875 N. Humboldt Ave.

Finks is their name and being “everyone’s cocktail bar” is their game. The establishment runs on 90 daught bottle varieties, eight taps and a whole lot of personality. Happy hour specials change a bit from day to day, but generally feature things like $5 specialty cocktails.

La Masa, 1300 E. Brady Street

They do more than create some of the best empanadas you’ve ever tasted at La Masa. International recipes combine with contemporary ingredients to comprise a creative menu that pairs very well with its happy hour deals. Described by Urban Milwaukee as “empanada heaven,” drink specials include tap beer, wine and cocktails at $2 off. And the empanadas, which are generally $3 or $4 are a steal at $2 a peice.

Balzac, 1716 N. Arlington Place

The wine bar takes on a whole new personality at Balzac, where they believe sharing food is the best way for people to come together. Happy hour specials vary a bit from day to day, but generally include deals on tap beer and house wine and include $5 off select plates.

At River House Milwaukee, we believe in living without compromise. We have fun, live life to the fullest and embrace everything our community has to offer. One of the ways we accomplish that is through our Resident Rewards program, which includes discounts at DiModa and HiHat, among other local businesses.
